The idea

A caesura is the pause that gives music its shape.

In notation, the caesura is the breath — the deliberate silence. We build instruments for that space: the gap between your phrases, the way a note decays, the in-between states most pedals skip past.

The principle

Deterministic, not random

Ambient gear often hides behind chance. Ours doesn’t. A Caesura responds the same way twice, so you can rehearse it, automate it, and perform with it. The magic is control, not a slot machine.

The grammar

One house, many voices

Six knobs and a footswitch. A powder-coat body in one signal color. A printed booklet in the box. Each instrument is a single clear idea, built the same considered way.

The bench

Hand-built, by hand, in the USA

Caesura is a small operation — designed, voiced, and assembled at one bench. We’d rather make a short line of instruments we can stand behind than a catalog. If you ever want to know who built yours, just ask.
